The program, to be implemented by the National Competitiveness Council (CNC), will benefit the Standard & Quality Systems Dept (Digenor), the Ministry of Industry & Commerce, the Center for Export & Investment (CEI-RD), the Institute for Development of Farm & Forestry Research (IDIAF), the Institute for Biotechnology Research (IIBI), the Center for the Development of Industry Competitiveness (ProIndustria) and the Program to Support Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Business (Promipyme), said Andres Van der Horst, director of the CNC.
The new strains were developed at the Dominican Institute for Forest and Agricultural Research (IDIAF), in collaboration with the University of Nebraska.
According to the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agropecuarias y Forestales (Idiaf), a governmental farming research center, 713 farms produced for export; 321 (8,666 tareas) in the south and 392 (70,275 tareas) in the north.
