Ericsson is steadfastly working with key ecosystem partners for network and device IoDT based on 3GPP-compliant solutions on mmWave, 3.5 GHz and now 2.6 GHz bands.
With Intel's 5G Mobile Trial Platform (MTP) and Huawei's latest 5G NR (New Radio) base station supporting the 2.6GHz with 160MHz bandwidth, the two companies jointly completed the IoDT and successfully enabled the first call under SA network.
The end-to-end 5G NR IoDT system is designed to efficiently achieve multigigabit-per-second peak data rates at significantly lower air-interface latency than 4G networks.
Other speakers at the event included Liaison Officer in the Office of QU Vice-President and Chief Academic Officer Enita Barrett, who spoke on the forum's newly-established constitution, Vanessa Robinson from CIPD, who discussed how to engender a culture in which HR professionals become business savvy and IODT Founder and CEO Helen Tucker who highlighted her organisation's plans to establish an employability skills award, as well as culture- sensitive initiatives in line with the educational needs of Qatar.
The IODT has established a presence in Qatar in partnership with Elnuk, a local recruitment company, and will be offering accredited courses in five different sectors: business administration and law, education and training, health, public services and care, leisure, travel and tourism and preparation for life and work.
The lab data call is a continuation of the IODT announced in December 2017 when Ericsson and Qualcomm, along with several operators, demonstrated a multi-vendor interoperability connection compliant with the NSA 5G NR global 3GPP standard.
Hiroshi Nakamura, Chief Technology Officer at NTT DOCOMO, says: "We are very pleased with this initiative and believe early IODT is a key to enable a strong and robust eco-system.
Interoperability device testing (IODT) determines whether the base station and device can establish and maintain a robust communication link capable of achieving 5G performance in prescribed test conditions.
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), ZTE, and China Mobile announced that they have successfully achieved the world's first end-to-end 5G NR Interoperability Data Testing (IoDT) system demonstrating a data connection based on 3GPP R15 standard, the companies said.
