IPSSA got its start in 1961 in California as a means of providing independent, solo service technicians with mutual support and other perks such as affordable insurance.
Romanowski said IPSSA has had its sights set on Florida for some time, but in the past year, it solidified its commitment.
IPSSA reps set up tables outside branches of pool product distributors, and handed out brochures and information to the service techs they met.

Lachocki, Ph.D., speculates that the instructors will be ready to hold their first CPO class for IPSSA members by early 2007, if not earlier.
IPSSA plans to formally unveil the partnership to its members in its February newsletter, according to Vickie Lester, IPSSA director.
"One of our strategic goals is to improve the availability of technical education to our members," said Vickie Lester, CAE, executive director of Long Beach, Calif.-based IPSSA. "By using the CPO program, this saves us time and effort.

"The NSPF leadership and board are very excited about partnering with IPSSA because they have such a good relationship with people in the service industry," Lachocki said.
