While ISUIA has provided valuable information on the natural history of intracranial aneurysms and has certainly influenced the management of these lesions, this study has multiple limitations.
Data obtained from the ISUIA, however, suggests that the complication rate of elective aneurysm surgery, particularly in older patients, is much higher than had been previously reported.
Comparatively, the prospective ISUIA analysis showed that aneurysms in the PCoA location and not the ACoA location presented a higher risk of rupture.
