The centre conducts a large number of courses in safety and first aid and technical training in reservoir engineering, production engineering, drilling engineering, completion and work over, geology and geophysics and artificial lift in addition to IWCF and IADC courses, sea survival, fire-fighting, safety and risk management, defensive driving (both heavy duty and light duty), desert driving, and other courses.
David Conroy, IWCFs Chief Technical Officer who participated in this first enhanced program says: The purpose of this new training initiative is to improve the well control knowledge for senior personnel at a higher level above and beyond the current IWCF Level 4 Well Control training and assessment.
The five-day course gave delegates from TAQA, KCA Deutag and Swift Drilling a fully immersive experience in obtaining IWCF certification at the highest competency level 4 by introducing an interactive learning environment on a high fidelity simulator combined with an extensive well control equipment curriculum.
IWCF plans to make it available free-of-charge on its website as part of this drive.
