The release specifically addressed issues related to multilingualism by announcing that a 30-day comment period had been opened for its revised guidelines on the Implementation of Internationalized Domain Names

According to the release, "ICANN recognizes the need for overall multilingualism in the Domain Name System (DNS) and is committed to playing its part in bringing this about through a consultative approach that includes all stakeholders, while at the same time ensuring the ongoing stability of the DNS."
