In the city, security around the local Bangladesh High Commission consulate in Park Circus has been stepped up following several Muslim organisations in the city showing solidarity with the Jamt. "The govenrment in Bangladesh is working against the people of this country and are hanging innocent citizens in the name of war crimes.
Nizami was a minister in the government of Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party which was allied with Jamt.
