A committee of JJTA members will review nominations.
Through the 15 years since its inception, JJTA members have seen attitudes toward staff training change from "if we can afford it" to "we can't afford not to." As a result of the changing needs in the juvenile justice field, JJTA has promoted the idea that quality staff training is not just a luxury, it is a necessity that can be accomplished through a combination of assessment, planning and design of curriculum to meet an agency's specific training needs.
Another integral function of JJTA is to work in collaboration with other organizations to meet the diverse needs of disciplines within the juvenile justice arena.
The Alliance for Juvenile Justice was forged in 1994 as an affiliation of several national associations and organizations, including JJTA, the National Juvenile Detention Association and the National Association of Juvenile Correctional Agencies.
ACA, the New York State Division for Youth and JJTA will achieve these goal through two initiatives.
The first initiative, to be conducted by ACA and JJTA, will be to provide technical assistance and training to juvenile justice agencies and their LRE coordinators.
