The Tokyo chapter of the Japan Legal Aid Association (JLAA) has established a 30 million yen fund to finance legal fees needed to protect the human rights of children subject to family violence or harassment at school.
According to Setsuko Tsuboi, a JLAA attorney involved in creating the fund, the number of child abuse cases requiring legal intervention is on the rise, together with an increase in parents who refuse to acknowledge the abuse.
