Kakutani, "An Arabidopsis jmjC
domain protein protects transcribed genes from DNA methylation at CHG sites," EMBO Journal, vol.
On the other hand, the removal of H3K27me3 is mediated by the Jumonji C (JmjC
) domain containing demethylases--UTX and JMJD3 [41-43].
These enzymes include peptidylarginine deiminase enzymes and amine oxidase- and JmjC
domain--containing histone demethylase enzymes.
As for DNA methylation, also histone methylation is a reversible process, which depends on the activity of histone demethylases, such as the VitC/[Fe.sup.+2]/[alpha]-KG dependent demethylases, that is, the JmjC
domain-containing histone demethylases.
