Several methods have been used for handling pain and discomfort after root canal procedure.7 These include preoperative analgesics and corticosteroid prescription occlusal reduction and administration of long-acting anesthesia.5 Several researches have assessed the effects of occlusal reduction on pain and discomfort after endodontic treatment.1256 Rosenberg et al described in his study the positive effect of occlusal reduction on postoperative pain5 but Creech et al6 and Jostes and Holland7 reported no significant differences in postoperative pain and discomfort in patients who had received root canal treatment with or without occlusal reduction.
