The unfamiliarity of a joint task force civil support (JTFCS) defense CBRNE [chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosives] response force (DCRF) mission can cause fear of the unknown to grow within the ranks when a unit receives this tasking.
In addition to providing CBRNE subject matter expertise, the JTFCS JPAC was actively engaged in working other crucial issues including sustainment, force flow, transition, and redeployment plans for the over 70,000 active, reserve, and Guard forces employed throughout the Gulf Coast region.
The focus of the JTFCS is domestic, while that of the 20th Support Command is primarily overseas--although subordinate units and capabilities of the 20th also support JTF-CS.
