According to Ashok S Rathore, general manager, Rambagh Palace, Jaipur: "The festival initially started as an initiative of the Jaipur Virasat Foundation
in 2006, as a segment of the Jaipur Heritage International Festival, and it was organised at Rambagh Palace.
The festival is a not- for- profit partnership project involving two of India's leading heritage trusts -- Mehrangarh Museum Trust and Jaipur Virasat Foundation
Organised by the Jaipur Virasat Foundation
and the Mehrangarh Museum Trust and directed by the very talented Divya Bhatia, it is RIFF that first offered a platform to the Manganiyar community or folk singer Bhanwari Devi, before they were discovered by Roysten Abel, Ram Sampath or Amit Trivedi.
