"K-Sim Polaris is a strong match for our officer training needs," said Capt.
"Our K-Sim navigation and engine room simulators are currently in use by more than 75 training institutes in the country.
"K-Sim Navigation represents a significant upgrade to our simulator facility, enabling us to expand our course offering and make the most of the latest training technology.
For Aalesund University College, this means upgrade from Polaris to K-Sim Navigation software.
Navigation has been developed with the user experience firmly in focus.
Two separate classrooms will also feature K-Sim
ECDIS trainers, K-Pos DP Class C and K-Chief 700 crew trainers for drillship.
The technical capabilities of K-Sim Engine and the long-term training possibilities it gives us will help us to reach our goal of becoming known and recognised as the tertiary institution of choice in advanced maritime education and training, in Africa and beyond."
Area sales manager, Kongsberg Maritime Simulation, Harald Kluken, added : "In addition to commercial vessel training, the RMU wants to start focusing on the offshore industry, so they ordered the AHTS model, our latest K-Sim Engine model.
Engine delivery for RMU comprises a full-mission ERS approved by DNV-GL according to Standards for Certification 2.14 (2011).
K-Sim DP Manoeuvring is the most advanced in a long line of Dynamic Positioning simulators developed by Kongsberg Maritime.
"The DNV Class A approved K-Sim DP is developed to conduct more operational and scenario based courses, fulfilling the industry s training requirements and has the possibility to replace a significant amount of the on board training required in a typical Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) training scheme," comments Geir Lilje, Product Advisor, Kongsberg Maritime.
The new K-Sim DP Manoeuvring simulator is configured with a dual redundant DP system and a 240 degree or wider visual scene.
