The election was held at the meeting of the national coordinators convened by the IAEA and hosted by KUSTAR in November last.

The centre for research and innovation was established in 2014, as a joint venture by communications company BT, UAE telco Etisalat and the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR).
The Khalifa University of Science and Technology was established by presidential decree in early 2017 through the merger of the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (Kustar), Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, and the Petroleum Institute.
A large number of initiatives have been adopted in this respect, mainly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, namely through research centres such as Khalifa Innovation Centre established by Khalifa University of Science & Technology (KUSTAR) and the UAEU Science & Innovation Park established by the United Arab Emirates University.
