The last of the Dieppois mapmakers, Jacques de Vaulx de Claye, produced a globe in 1584 which showed a huge Terre Australe, with two great promontories, one bearing the names, Terre de Beac and Locac, reaching northward almost to Java but separated from it by a strait, the other, inscribed Maletur (a Sumatran kingdom describe by Marco Polo), extending almost to Nouvelle Guinee.
"Floac pro(vincia)" ("Loac provincia" on the Lenox globe) is Marco Polo's Locac. Near this is Moabar, which we find again in Marco Polo as Maabar.
Some geographers of the 16th century, following the old editions which carried the travellers south-east of Java to the land of Boeach (or Locac), introduced in their maps a continent in that situation.
