'From then onwards, Zindagi Trust has been advocating to introduce child protection through LSBE
in schools across Pakistan.
The media was apprised about the steps by Sindh government for expanding the integration of life skills-based education (LSBE
) into the school curriculum in the province besides laying emphasis on other provinces to follow Sindh's initiatives to check child abuse.
Also, the committee will monitor progress on teacher training programmes conducted to equip the faculty members of schools which are to impart LSBE
to children at schools.It will also be overseeing the implementation of existing laws on child protection, and assess the performance of Child Protection Authority (formed in 2011) which is responsible for ensuring dispensation of child protection rights.
Omar Aslam further stated has also conducted a curriculum review and learning Needs Assessment (LNA) of the life Skill Based Education (LSBE
) course that is taught in certain schools.
Children should be made aware of HIV/AIDS through the Life-Skill Based Education (LSBE
) system for which the Sindh government already has a programme in hand.
The PPP chairman and chief minister were requested to ensure that subsequent process of teacher training and reprint of textbooks with LSBE
content takes place in Sindh.
The meeting discussed the update on process taken by Aahung for the integration of Life Skills Based Education (LSBE
) into the secondary school curriculum in Sindh.
Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Senator Sherry Rehman, Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Human Rights Rehana Leghari, Shamim Wasi, Shahzad Roy and Nazo Pirzada were also present at the meeting.The idea of Life Skills Based Education (LSBE
) at secondary level was also discussed in the meeting.
In February 2019, the federal education minister was again requested to include Life-Skills-Based Education (LSBE
) in the new education policy.
