Naval Sea Systems Command to refurbish and launch new tests of the technology, the AN/BLQ-11 Long-Term Mine Reconnaissance System
These include the MH-60R/S and AH-58D helicopters, the Fire Scout vertical-takeoff and -landing tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (VTUAV), the 11-m Rigid-Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB), the Remote Minehunting System, the Long-term Mine Reconnaissance System
(LMRS, and the SPARTAN unmanned surface vehicle.
The Long-term Mine Reconnaissance System
(LMRS) UUV will reach initial operational capability in 2003.
Five are airborne, RMS and the so called long-term mine reconnaissance system
(LMRS) are UUVs.
Two contractors for the Long-Term Mine Reconnaissance System
are Boeing's Autonetics & Missile Systems Division and Northrop Grumman's Electronic Sensors and Systems Division.
To this end, both Near-Term and Long-Term Mine Reconnaissance Systems
(NMRS and LMRS) programs have been established.
