In wording, MS 003183 is unusually idiosyncratic (even for the MEPB), to the extent that none of the AV-1419 texts could possibly be derived from MS 003183.
Folio 6r begins the MEPB text proper, which is the only item in the manuscript.
The figure and story of Cadwallader, present in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae (1136) and its textual descendents, had been omitted from the narrative of the Anglo-Norman prose Brut, the original source of the MEPB.9 As Matheson's data show, however, over half of the extant manuscripts of the MEPB, including the EVs and AVs, do feature the story of Cadwallader.10 The erroneous rubrications in Rauner MS 003183 create the irony that any reader who just leafed through, looking at the red chapter headings, would have no clue that Cadwallader is here.
It is not surprising to find evidence of rubricators improvising with chapter headings, since such small variations abound in chapter headings of the MEPB manuscripts, but the repeated chapter headings of Rauner MS 003183 do give us a glimpse of the degree and kind of change that can characterize any individual manuscript's rubrication.
Other kinds of exemplars for rubrication are possible, including lists of headings like those that Richard and Mary Rouse have found in some Paris workshops (for texts other than the Brut), or some whole codex of the MEPB.11 One other circumstantial detail suggests that the quires of Rauner MS 003183 were separated during stages of its decoration.
Two other MEPB manuscripts of particular interest have rubrication styles comparable to that of Rubricator 2.
The limits of detection (LODs) in a 0.1[micro]/L urine sample were 0.4 [micro]g/L (BPA and BP-3), 0.2 [micro]g/L (PrPB), 1.0 [micro]g/L (MePB), and 2.3 [micro]g/L (TCS).
BP-3 and MePB were detected in all participants, and PrPB was detected in all but one participant each week.
As expected, we observed no difference for MePB, PrPB, or TCS, although urinary concentrations of BP-3 were higher after polycarbonate bottle use.
