Comfort Food 'Sounds' Good - A Communal Feast by Adam Reid Making a drastic departure from his usual fine-dining style, Adam Reid (head chef at The French) will create a comfort food feast for MFDF. Reid recently made an appearance on BBC Two's Great British Menu, where he cooked a dish called Comfort Food 'Sounds' Good, which has inspired his MFDF offering.
Perez, usually based in Barcelona and the man behind a string of Michelinstarred restaurants, will be flying in to Manchester especially for MFDF, where he will cook and serve a casual take on Tast's famed menu, all inspired by the Catalan landscape.
Formerly resident at Band on the Wall, Brighter Sound's Shake Rattle and Roll is taking over the MFDF Hub for a free session led by their experienced, child-centered musicians.
Exhibitors at the MFDF Gin Fest include Bathtub Gin, Lakes Gin, Unicorn Tears Gin Liqueur and Whittaker's London Dry Gin - with many more to be announced over the coming weeks.
Owned and organised by MFDF, the awards will be held for the first time at in the stunning gothic surroundings of Gorton Monastery on Monday, October 8.
The award nominations were posted on the MFDF website yesterday and the public can now vote for their favourites.
Founding director Phil Jones said: "Our beloved hub has come to embody the heart and soul of MFDF and is its own little foodie neighbourhood, popping up once a year as a place that food lovers can hang out for 11 wonderful gastronomic days.
The festival opens on Thursday September 27, culminating in the MFDF Gala Dinner and Awards at Gorton Monastery on Monday October 8, when the region's best restaurants and bars will be recognised with a raft of prizes.
Chef Matthew Nutter claims he can make aubergine taste better than steak and cauliflower taste better than chicken - bold statements indeed, but ones backed up by the reviews, and the fact that he won Chef of the Year at the MFDF awards last year.
