In alignment with the call, MHBC proposed developing a multicultural coalition for health and well-being that would have the capacity to participate in public policy.
The categories and themes resulting from our analysis were shared with the MHBC (described below) to ensure accurate interpretation.
As stated, this project began with the MHBC and the funding received to develop a multicultural coalition and simultaneously study how individuals and communities were mobilized to support and develop the coalition.
The project coordinators then invited nineteen community members, who were trusted by the MHBC and were considered reliable community workers, to an information meeting about the project.
First, they agreed to it because they trusted the MHBC membership.
Participation in the project was engendered through previously established, trusted, and respected relationships between the ethnic minority community and both the MHBC and the Community Animators.
