Moving faster than the Global Christian Documentation Forum had envisioned, GMI decided to tie its DMEP program to CD-ROM technology (anticipating the later recommendation of the Pew MSRDP report).(16) This decision was very much in line with the conclusions of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), which, with funding from the Ford Foundation, conducted extensive research among African universities and published its findings from 1993 onward.
These principles were highlighted in the Pew MSRDP report: "Enabling and stimulating local centers of resource development in the developing world is the most effective means of strengthening the resource base for missions studies" in general.
