(11) Several studies of patients with RCD who go on to develop EATL have shown that the IELs have the same monoclonal T-cell receptor [gamma] (TCR[gamma]) gene rearrangements as the subsequent lymphomas.
In a subset of reported cases of LP lymphocytes with pleomorphic nuclei involving subcutaneous lobules with a cytotoxic immunophenotype (positivity for CD3, CD8, and TCR[beta]F1), high proliferation index and monoclonal T-cell receptor [gamma] gene rearrangement have been observed, suggesting overlapping features with subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL).
Molecular studies performed on lymph node and bone marrow aspiration specimens showed no evidence of monoclonal T-cell receptor [Gamma] chain or immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangements.
