According to the National Association of Licensed House Managers (NALHM), part of the Transport and General Workers Union, pub managers were pressured to forfeit paid managerial roles and take on the responsibility of a tenancy.
NALHM's national officer Peter Love claimed: 'Enterprise Inns approached one of our female members to take the tenancy and when this offer was politely refused she was told that they had a multiple tenant lined up to take it.
The dispute began last year when Transport and General Workers Union officials claimed that the managers should belong to their union and not the NALHM.
