The NFVE described a three-way implementation of values education comprising: process--learning values through interactions with others, notably through cooperative learning activities; content--explicit teaching and learning about the nature and meaning of values; and application--applying values to solve academic or interpersonal problems.
Fifty-one projects, grouped in cross-sectoral clusters, followed the principles of the NFVE in constructing an intervention, in partnership with families and their school community, that focused on providing a safe and supportive learning environment where values were embedded in all school procedures, rules and curricula.
This link had been explicated in NFVE as potentially one between values education and good practice pedagogy (ADEST, 2005a).
