The
NHTG introduced the card after it carried out research which showed that around two thirds of those who work on pre-1919 buildings did not have the right skills to do so, mainly because the vast majority of those are general builders who move from new-build to repair and maintenance.
The
NHTG and ConstructionSkills are now working with partners to increase demand for suitably skilled and building conservation accredited professionals and maximise the number of high-quality entrants into the sector, by strengthening building conservation components in mainstream built environment courses.
The report was launched at the
NHTG's first national conference.
Research by the National Heritage Training Group (
NHTG) shows more skilled and qualified workers are needed for conservation, restoration, repair and maintenance work in order to stop them from falling into disrepair.
