The NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository' at Coriell includes samples accounting for 890 unique diseases.
Cell repositories like the NIGMS Repository at Coriell have become a key money and time saving resource for scientists.
In addition to funding the six center grants, NIGMS supports individual grants and grant supplements to advance stem cell research.
Christine Carrico, former director of the NIGMS Pharmacology and Biorelated Chemistry Program, says, "This is a particularly exciting time in pharmacology.
today named her to replace departing NIGMS Director Jeremy M.
The project described above was fully supported by NIH grant S06-GM08224 from the NIGMS MBRS-SCORE Program and partially supported by NIH grants G12RR003051 from RCMI, U54RR026139-01 from NCRR, R03 DA02793901 from NIDA, and U54CA96297 and U54CA96300 from the UPR/MDACC Partnership for Excellence in Cancer Research, NCI.
In addition to the research guidelines stated above, the following NIH institutes and centers state the following: 1) NIAID is interested in projects involving HIV and opportunistic infections; 2) NIDCR has a policy that R21 applications cannot be used for small clinical trials; 3) NIGMS is interested in research into sex differences related to the clinical areas that it supports in pharmacology, anesthesiology, and the physiological sciences related to traumatic injury and burn, and wound healing; 4) NINDS will support new research projects that assess the feasibility of a novel avenue of investigation, involve high-risk experiments that could lead to a breakthrough in a particular field, or demonstrate the feasibility of new technologies that could have major impact in a specific area.
For the simulated testing, pellets from the project cell lines were prepared as above and were accompanied by pellets from 2 additional cell lines that previously had been shown to be negative for all mutations carried by the project cell lines [GM03469 and GM00130; NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository; characterization of these cell lines is described in the accompanying Technical Brief (11)].
Each NIGMS center is a collaborative effort involving several researchers who will work together on specific pilot projects.
This publication was made possible by Grant Number P50 AT00155, jointly supported by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS), the Office for Research on Women's Health (ORWH), and the National Institute of General Medicine (NIGMS), and it's contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the NCCAM, ODS, ORWH, NIGMS or NIH.
Among the NIGMS Protein Structure Initiative's goals are to develop faster, more streamlined methods for structural determination specifically for crystallography.
NIGMS is part of the National Institutes of Health.
