Taipei, Sept.28, 2012 (CENS) -- Premium growth of natural disaster insurance and auto-insurance policies boosted Taiwan's non-life insurers to score NT$82 billion (US$2.73 billion) in written premium revenues in the first eight months, up 7.2 year on year (YoY), much better than NLIA's (Non-life Insurance Association of the R.O.C) prediction of 3.2%, with an expected annual growth of over 5% to NT$118.5 billion (US$3.95 billion).
Premium revenues of natural disaster insurance policies increased 42.9% YoY to exceed NT$8.08 billion (US$269.3 million) in the first eight months, NT$2.4 billion (US$80 million) higher YoY, the biggest contributor to growing premium revenues this year, according to statistics from NLIA.
NLIA estimates that premiums of natural disaster policies rose 20~30% on average.
