Concern over the running of the NRRP, which was launched in 1997, came to a head a fortnight ago when BHB director and Jockey Club member Andrew Parker Bowles, in his capacity as a trustee of the charity, Emergency Relief for Thoroughbreds, gave Green a deadline of March 1 to clear up the organisation's financial affairs.
Green admitted that administration of the NRRP had been "chaotic", but said she has now recruited somebody to look after that side of the charity's affairs.
Green, who founded the NRRP with the aim of finding lifelong homes for retired racehorses, has circulated a letter to supporters saying "future funding is now a huge concern", and appeals for help in raising pounds 150,000.
Di Green, founder of NRRP, said: "Our target is to recruit 3,500 members at an annual membership fee of pounds 24 which will help to ensure the centre's survival each year.
