NTAF recognizes the need for prompt payments, so it issues checks weekly.
The Jacobs applied to have the NTAF, a nonprofit organization set up and administer a regional fund for Christian.
The Jacobs submit bills for Christian's uncovered expenses, along with back-up paperwork, to the NTAF. The money is then paid out of the fund directly to the hospital or provider.
"Our goal is to make the whole process easier for the patient and their family," says Diane Calder, Patient Services representative at NTAF. "Our approach to fund-raising has another plus," she adds.
The NTAF is currently working on behalf of 529 people all over the United States.
