In an alarming report, NUEPA has pointed out that as many as 1,722 schools in the country were functioning from tents and another 34,278 did not have a structure in place to shelter students and teachers.
The details submitted by NUEPA with an affidavit before the Supreme Court showed that there was no drinking water facility in over one lakh schools and over 45 per cent schools did not have toilet facilities for girls.
Further, for improving the quality of school education, the School Standards & Evaluation framework, known as Shaala Siddhi has been launched by NUEPA
, to enable schools to evaluate their performance in a more focused and strategic manner and to facilitate them to make professional judgments for improvement.
