Louis Railroad, known as the Nickel Plate Road. By 1924, their empire had grown exponentially with the acquisition of the Erie Railroad, Chesapeake & Ohio, and Pere Marquette, which were in a holding company called the Alleghany Corporation.
The committee's development work paid off with the arrival of a new fleet of AMC-designed Berkshires for the Nickel Plate Road, which made its name running fast freights across Ohio and Indiana.
