However, for the purposes of this analysis, we chose to focus on these genes as the most suitable potential candidates for future research on biomarkers associated with eating disorders in part because there is already a foundation of research supporting the hypothesis that they play a role in processes important to Night Eating Syndrome, but they have not necessarily been tied directly to night eating and little is known of their evolutionary history.
