Greece-based Piraeus Bank SA (TPEIR:GA) has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Intrum for the management of Non Performing Exposures (NPE) and Real Estate Owned Assets (REOs).

"Maintaining and improving the CET1 ratio shows the Co-operative sector's ability to produce value and a robust organisation ready to face challenges stemming from the need to tackle the problem of non performing exposures and the provision of healthy financing to the real economy," the Co-operative Central Bank said in a press release.
Non performing exposures (NPEs) declined by 3% quarter on quarter to 58% of total loans, amounting to EUR 2.536 mln compared with EUR 2.602 in Q4 2015.
On December 31, non performing exposures dropped to 59% compared to 61% in the third quarter of 2015 and "constitute the first substantial reduction realised since the 2013 crisis."
The Non performing Exposures (according to ECB definition) decreased slightly in September to EUR 27.329 bln from EUR 27.379 bln in August, representing 47.79% of total loans.
