We look forward to working with reformers in government and civil society to advance open government reforms, making government more transparent, participatory, responsive and accountable to citizens.
Mohammmed Benabdelkader, Minister in charge of Administration Reform and Civil Service of the Kingdom of Morocco, expressed excitement to join OGP, considering it as evidence that Morocco has undergone reforms for an increasingly open government.
This announcement comes just a few weeks after OGP welcomed five new local governments to its partnership.

During its tenure as Lead Chair of this global Partnership, South Africa has championed the Open Government Declaration on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which will see OGP member countries incorporating Sustainable Development Goals in their OGP country action plans.
South Africa in its tenure also prioritised legislative openness, open data, and broadening civil society participation to include grass root organisation and vulnerable groups within the OGP.
The year 2016 saw the first country in the OGP to be placed as inactive in terms of the Response Policy on Upholding the Values and Principles of the OGP.
Publicized by AllAfrica.com, the event will bring together a powerful coalition of organisations and individuals, including representatives from OGP! Day one will open with the Leadership Ceremony, dedicated this year to the former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
