Members of the PAJC were briefed by Haroon Rashid Sherzad, the senior advisor to the National Security Advisor (NSA), on APAAPS framework, Khyber Farahi, the senior advisor to the president on Migration and Social Development, on the latest refugee situation.
PAJC members unanimously supported and welcomed the recent high-level bilateral visits and the recently concluded APAAPS framework.
recommended that Pakistan and Afghanistan sign a bilateral consular access agreement, work on a dignified and reasonable plan for Afghan refugees' repatriation, hold meetings to improve the framework governing the transit trade, facilitate bilateral trade, address negative perceptions about each other, hold media exchanges and highlight progress made under APAPPS.
The participating PAJC
members urged their respective governments to deal the refugee issue on humanitarian grounds issue as they should not politicise it.
He promised to the PAJC's concerns regarding the plight of Afghans in Pakistan.
The PAJC also met with Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Lt General Ret Abdul Qadir Baloch.
The series brings together from both countries prominent journalists, civil society activists, former diplomats, parliamentarians, academicians, former members of law enforcement and scholars as part of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Committee (PAJC
) for Beyond Boundaries phase II.
