In PBCBA's meetings with hiring partners and decisionmakers around Palm Beach County, PBCBA frequently heard that employers were eager to recruit diverse attorneys, but did know the best means to go about it.
The PBCBA is a non-profit voluntary professional association of attorneys founded in 1922.
Prior to his election as PBCBA president, Howe served in several leadership roles for the organization, including serving as the Founder and Co-Chair of the PBCBA's Committee for Diversity and Inclusion, Chair of its Docent Training Program for Lawyers and Judges at the 1916 Historical Courthouse & Museum, and a member of its Professionalism Council.

Romani, who was president of the PBCBA during the 1991-1992 bar year, died almost two years ago.
"When God made my boss, he made an advocate with qualities of fairness shown to his opponents, a man of ethics who placed his clients before himself, one of dignity in losing as well as winning and a sense of pride to only give his best," said Linda Olson-Krupa in a letter that was included in the nomination packet submitted by the PBCBA. She worked as his legal assistant for 26 years.
Instead of quietly fading back into private practice after his one-year stint as PBCBA president, he became a member of The Florida Bar Board of Governors from 1993-1997.
Deckert also said the PBCBA has gone to great lengths to make clear its opinions are only advisory and rendered to provide guidance to the candidates.
