Phacoemulsification (Advanced Medical Optics Sovereign, Santa Ana, California, USA) and
PCIOL implantation through a clear corneal incision were performed under general anesthesia.
PCIOL was placed into the sulcus in 13 cases and in 3 cases lens implantation in the capsular bag was achieved.
KEY WORDS: Traumatic cataract, posterior chamber intraocular lens (
PCIOL), visual acuity (VA), phacoemulsification, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA)
After control of IOP, manual small incision cataract surgery with
PCIOL implantation with or without iridectomy was done under local (peribulbar) anaesthesia.
Previous studies explored the option of transscleral suture-fixated
PCIOL implantation combined with a trabeculectomy and found that this technique resulted in good intraocular pressure (IOP) control as well as improvement in visual acuity [3,9].
Irise suturle fikse edilen
PCIOL icin; IOL tilt, hemoraji, uveit gibi komplikasyon oranlarinin yuksek olmasinin yani sira implantasyon tekniginin zorlugu da kullanimi sinirlamaktadir.
First, the anterior surface of
PCIOL totally blocks anterior capsule opening that makes the capsular bag a closed space.
IOL power for scleral fixated IOL was kept same as for
PCIOL (PMMA lens with A-constant of 118.2).
Single Piece UV blocking Hydrophobic Acrylic anterior aspheric clear Optic
PCIOL with haptic optic offset design.
Lens statuses included clear, any degree of any cataract, and posterior chamber intraocular lens (
PCIOL).
Out of 40 cases, 37 cases (92.5%) were succesfully rehabilitated with IOL implantation as primary or secondary procedure; 30 cases underwent cataract extraction (SICS) with
PCIOL; 9 cases presented with anterior capsular defect with presence of lens matter in anterior chamber.
