Logistic regression was used to identify the significance of the factors associated with the presence of PDDI. The results were considered significant if p values were <0.05.
A total of 1295 PDDIs were identified in KTH, comprising of 48 drug pairs, with at least one PDDI in 96.5% of patients.
Therefore, it is essential for the healthcare team to reflect on PDDI as they are responsible for the prescription and administration of medications, thus playing an important role in identifying potential drug interactions or reducing adverse reactions of these interactions (Dai et al 2016; Miller et al 2015; Payne et al 2015).
The dependent variable is the presence of PDDI. The PDDI term refers to the ability of a drug to affect the pharmacologic intensity as well as the therapeutic effect of another and cause adverse reactions, as well as the possibility of clinical manifestations (Secoli 2001).
Among these 253 patients, 147 (58.27%) patients showed at least one pDDI and 106 (41.9%) patients no pDDIs.
The most common CYP450 enzyme involved in pDDI in our study was CYP3A4, and the most common drugs involved were alprazolam-omeprazole in 15 patients.

Moreover, it has been noted that other patient-related variables such as frailty, low physical fitness, poor mental health and inter-individual variability, (variables that are very common in the institutionalized elderly), could increase the difficulty of drug management and the prevention of pDDIs
in older adults (10).
