'Although there may be some truth to the concerns, what is really at play here is a gap between the understanding of PLR by libraries and that of the publishing industry.'
The mean values of NLR, PLR and NMR in the whole group were 3.09[+ or -]1.47, 158.43[+ or -]99.9, and 8.40[+ or -]3.13, median values were 2.92, 125.69 and 8.38, respectively.
Tukey boxplots were used to demonstrate the range of measures for PLR and pupil size for manual and automated methods.
However, controversy exists concerning whether the deregulation of these cells may lead to pregnancy complications, such as abortion, preeclampsia and preterm labour.5 CBC is an inexpensive, easy to access and commonly used test, and is recommended at the first initial stages of pregnancy to exclude pathological complications, such as anaemia, thrombocytopenia, bleeding disorder, thrombosis and thrombophilia.6 Measuring blood cell subtype ratios, such as WBC, neutrophil (N), lymphocyte (L), the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the mean platelet volume (MPV), the platelet-lymphocyte ratio level (PLR) and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) might provide prognostic and diagnostic clues to diseases.
The platelet count and the absolute lymphocyte count were taken from the complete blood count report at delivery, and then the PLR was calculated.
The results of Mann-Whitney U test and Student's t-test showed that neutrophil count (p=0.024), NLR (p=0.003) and PLR (p=0.007) correlated significantly with OS (Table 1).
While the mean serum WBC, neutrophil, and platelet counts; plateletcrit level; and NLR and PLR ratios were significantly higher in the lymph node positive group than in the lymph node negative group (p<0.05), the mean serum lymphocyte count and hemoglobin, hematocrit, MPV, and PDW levels did not differ significantly between the groups (p>0.05) (Table 2).
"The NLR and PLR ratios offer a new, powerful, affordable, simple, and readily available tool in the hands of clinicians to help them in the diagnosis of DVT," he said.
