The expert musculoskeletal physiotherapists assessed active range of motion (AROM), abnormality of segmental motion observed during AROM (AbnROM), passive physiological intervertebral motion (PPIVMs) and passive accessory intervertebral motion (PAIVMs), nested within a comprehensive physical examination.
PPIVMs were rated on a 5 point ordinal scale, with 0 & 1 indicating hypomobility, normal anchored at 2, and 3 & 4 indicating hypermobility.
Two assessments, AbnROM and PPIVMs (88% and 89% respectively), returned higher values for specificity than sensitivity.
Session I: Left rotation PPIVMs were applied at lower thoracic segments in side lying position.
