PPIVMPassive Physiologic Intervertebral Motion (treatment)
References in periodicals archive ?
PPIVMs were assessed with the patient in side-lying, and consisted of moving the patient's lumbo-sacral spine through sagittal forward-bending, while palpating the motion taking place at each motion segment, between the spinous process of adjacent vertebrae (Maitland and Edwards 1986; Magee 1997).
PPIVMs were rated on a 5 point ordinal scale, with 0 & 1 indicating hypomobility, normal anchored at 2, and 3 & 4 indicating hypermobility.
Two assessments, AbnROM and PPIVMs (88% and 89% respectively), returned higher values for specificity than sensitivity.
