The 20-year-old Ramirez first learned the sport seven years ago when the PRFU conducted a clinic at Tuloy Foundation in Muntinlupa, home to hundreds of underprivileged and abandoned youth.
"The Philippine Stadium was the key to securing the right to host the tournament," said Matt Cullen, PRFU director for Rugby.
The Lady Volcanoes will be coached by Philippine Volcano Joe Palabay Dawson and PRFU Elite Performance Manager Chris Alamil-Everingham.
Renowned Italian brand Fila's partnership with the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) as host of the recent Asian Under 19s Division 2 Championships was a laudable effort.
PRFU director Matt Cullen said, "We're very happy to be with Fila and to be given the chance to host this tournament It's been three years since we fielded an Under 19s team and we're excited to give our young Volcanoes a chance to go head to head with our neighbors from Southeast Asia."
With international competitions starting in June, the PRFU will continue to focus on ensuring the national teams are ready to play.
Setting its sights on continued growth moving forward, the PRFU recently appointed former Philippine Volcanoes skipper Jake Letts as its new general manager.
