Figure 1(b) shows an example of two orthogonal SOP represented in the Poincare sphere. The polarization state is defined using the Stokes parameters that can be represented in the Poincare sphere over the three-dimensional vector of Cartesian coordinates called [S.sub.1]; [S.sub.2], and [S.sub.3].
