Courtenay Mercer, director of Preservation New Jersey, said the tax credit would put New Jersey in line with 35 other states that already offer similar economic incentives.
In 2010, Hanrahan was recognized as the New Jersey chapter's "Young Architect of the Year" and in 2001 he was recognized as the AIA-NJ "Intern Architect of the Year." His firm, Clarke Caton Hintz, was the 2010 AIA-NJ "Firm of the Year." Hanrahan is an active member of the Construction Specifications Institute, Preservation New Jersey and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The site was named to Preservation New Jersey's list of the "10 Most Endangered Historic Sites in New Jersey" that same year.
The award was shared with two other primary co-sponsors of the charrette; Preservation New Jersey and the DOCOMOMO-US (DOcumentation and COnservation of Buildings and Sites of the MOdern MOvement) New York/Tri-State chapter.
The coalition, consisting of the NJ Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA-NJ), Preservation New Jersey (PNJ), the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Recent Past Preservation Network, The Cultural Landscape Foundation, NJ Conservation Foundation, DOCOMOMO-US (the acronym stands for the "documentation and conservation" of the "modern movement") and DOCOMOMO-NY/Tri-State Chapter is coordinating teams of design professionals and scholars who will assemble over a three-day period and work collaboratively to propose solutions to the Holmdel Bell Labs site's many challenges if it is to be adapted to a new use while protecting the landscape and open space on the site.
