By transplanting faeces from mice that had been treated with anti-TB drugs (specifically isoniazid and pyrazinamide) into untreated mice prior to infection, they were able to show for the first time that faecal transplant was sufficient to compromise immunity to Mtb.

However, diversity was noticed in pncA mutations conferring resistance to pyrazinamide. On the basis of pncA variation, this cluster was split into 6 groups (Table 1).
The side effect of hepatitis during 2HRZ treatment is attributed to isoniazid, rifampin, and pyrazinamide. Isoniazid is acetylated by N-acetyltransferase in the liver [Figure 1].
Pyrazinamide (PZ) has been used over the years as the first and second line anti-tuberculosis agent [3], Telaprevir agent for treating Hepatitis C [4], Oltiprazm, a schistosomicidal and tumor preventing agent [5, 6] and Bortezomib, used against Multiple Myweloma [7, 8].
[2,14] This study was designed to evaluate the cytotoxic mechanism(s) of pyrazinamide in rat's liver, and also, the protective effects of taurine on this toxicity were investigated.
Our finding is supported by another retrospective review on pediatric contacts of MDR-TB patients in South Africa, where the authors concluded that children developed MDR-TB if they received chemoprophylaxis with either isoniazid or a combination of isoniazid, rifampin, and pyrazinamide and at least 2 secondline drugs should be considered for chemoprophylaxis of 6-12 months [18].

Results: Of the 163 isolates, 47(28.8%) isolates were resistant to streptomycin, 56(34.36%) to rifampicin, 31(19%) to ethambutol, 16(9.82%) to pyrazinamide and 59(36.2%) isolates were resistant to ofloxacin.
In addition, she was started on rifampin 450 mg/d, pyrazinamide 1000 mg/d, ethambutol 800 mg/d, and isoniazid (INH) 800 mg/d, as well as pyridoxine and intravenous dexamethasone.
Rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, ethambutol (HREZ), and dexamethasone were commenced.
tuberculosis culture and drug susceptibility testing were performed for first-line drugs (isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol, and pyrazinamide) using the automated Mycobacterium Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT 960 system; BD Diagnostics, Sparks, MD, USA).
