Commonly used molecular markers include restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs), random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs), simple sequence repeats (SSRs) or microsatellites, and more recently, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP).
To evaluate the stock structure of yellowfin tuna in eastern Pacific, we employed analyses of allozymes and of randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPDs).
The use of "randomly chosen primers," described under RAPDs below, does allow one to identify genetic markers relatively quickly in species for which extensive sequence information is not available.
In this model as well, it was assumed RAPDs follow Mendelian inheritance.
Genetic diversity was assessed among 38 chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) genotypes on the basis of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) in comparison with agro-morphological traits.
With this in mind, this study is aimed to investigate the genetic variation among the taxa that comprises the complex using RAPDs markers.
Phylogenetic analysis in the genus Cicer and cultivated chickpea using RAPD and ISSR markers.
The studies have been conducted with different genetic markers: AFLPs (one study), isozymes (seven studies), ISSRs (15 studies), RAPDs (ten studies) and nuclear microsatellites (two studies).
