To determine if students' basic reading skills (decoding and oral reading fluency) were higher at the end of the year than at the beginning of the year, a paired samples t test was conducted using student pretest and posttest scores from the TOWRE and RFBA. Results indicated that student posttest scores were statistically higher at the end of the school year for both the TOWRE, t = -10.55, p = .000, and the RFBA: t = -8.59, p = .000.
To determine if students made more progress in basic reading skills (decoding and oral reading fluency) during the semester they received CR, a paired samples t test was conducted using gain scores by semester (CR versus no CR) for the TOWRE and RFBA. Results indicated no statistically significant differences for either measure.
