Pentek's family of Quartz products based on Xilinx's RFSoC deliver an unprecedented amount of functionality in a single board.
Starting with the FDK, new cores support the RFSoC on-chip A/D and D/A converters with the following new features.
"This development platform provides an immediate, out-of-the-box, and cost-effective solution, optimized for rapid RFSoC development."
At the heart of the Model 5950 is Xilinx's Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC FPGA.
He added, "Our modular Quartz board architecture with its unique, deployable QuartzXM eXpress Module, leverages the powerful resources of the RFSoC chip and offers the industry's fastest path for system development.
"We are pleased to see the RFSoC device used in the market via Pentek's Quartz board-level solutions.
The many added functions in an RFSOC make device debug and characterization using traditional benchtop equipment far more time-consuming.
For RFSOC tests, the price profile is dominated by the handler and kits, the test system base, and RF and AC instrumentation; additional device sites can be added by increasing the relatively inexpensive DC and digital instruments.
"The flexibility offered by Pentek's revolutionary modularized RFSoC solution has been well received in the market as users can deploy this new technology in the field in a very small footprint, which is critical to Mil-Aero market needs," said David Gamba, Xilinx senior director for the Aerospace and Defense Vertical Market.
RF probe is becoming common for both RFSIP transceivers and wafer scale packaging of RFSOC devices in the 3-mm/side range and below.
"The architecture is based on our RFSoC QuartzXM[TM] eXpress Module containing the RFSoC FPGA and all needed support circuitry.
RFSOC devices are mainly digital and cache memory chips with less than half their physical area dedicated to RF, power management, converters, and analog circuits.
