Groups including Right to Life of Michigan and the Michigan Catholic Conference have formed an organization called MiCAUSE: Michigan Citizens Against Unrestricted Science and Experimentation to oppose the ballot initiative.
"We are extremely grateful for the large decrease in abortions in Michigan," Right to Life of Michigan President Barbara Listing said in a press release.
Right to Life of Michigan last year used educational funds for such activities as helping women connect with crisis pregnancy centers, publishing newsletters, and hosting a number of county and community fair booths, to name just a few of its endeavors.
"We are extremely grateful for the decrease in abortions," said Right to Life of Michigan President Barbara Listing.
Right to Life of Michigan's Amanda Peterman offers that "just one way we use CFC funds [is through] our Media Campaign program [which] strives to offer assistance to women and men in crisis pregnancy and post-abortive situations, continually improve the image of our organization and spread a positive prolife message in the most efficient, cost effective way possible."
"The only good that comes out of this is that he will no longer be practicing in Michigan," said Pam Sherstad, spokeswoman for Right to Life of Michigan.
"The pro-life people in Michigan know that ending the life of an unborn child doesn't end social problems for the community or a mother's personal problems," said Barbara Listing, Right to Life of Michigan president.
