It is probable, however, that you won't find a SCCR on the industrial control panel connected to the machinery.
The following are steps designers can take to acquire a SCCR for control panels.
There are several steps that should be followed for obtaining a SCCR:
Step 2: Determine the SCCR for each individual power circuit component inside the panel, which requires assessing each branch circuit.
Step 3: Moving to the next level of circuits, the lowest SCCR of any branch circuit creates the SCCR for the feeder circuit inside the panel.
A low SCCR on the control panel may limit installation of that equipment in certain locations based on the available fault current in that facility.
Also described in the standard is utilization of a combination of products that have already been tested for a specific SCCR (UL508A SB4.2.2.C).
Having equipment clearly marked with a SCCR allows engineers and inspectors to quickly assess if the equipment is suitable for the available fault current where it is being installed.
